About Us

We are a husband and wife team of HPC registered Podiatrists/Chiropodists in General Private Practice, and we offer a comprehensive range of Foot Care Services. We are also the only treatment centre of any type anywhere in the North East of England that is able to offer the revolutionary (and groundbreaking) PinPointe FootLaser treatment for fungally infected toenails. This modern, drug free laser treatment utilises non invasive, cutting edge Nd:Yag laser technology to directly treat the infections that cause the destruction and embarrassing disfigurement of the nails.

Hamish Dow

Graduating from Durham School of Chiropody and Podiatry in 1981 Mr. Dow worked for one year as a Senior 2 grade Chiropodist for the Berkshire Area Health Authority. In 1982 he moved to the North East where his mother’s cousin (Mr. Andrews) had a small Osteopathic and Chiropody Clinic on Chillingham Road. Over the years he was able to slowly introduce more modern clinical practices and techniques. In 2000 Mr. and Mrs. Dow bought the building and began refurbishments in earnest.

Mr. Dow is registered with the Health Professions Council, he is active in his local branch of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, where he is currently Vice Chairman. He has represented the Branch at Regional Branch Level and at its Annual Delegate Assembly. Mr. Dow’s (typically male) interest in technology and gadgetry has benefitted the practice by introducing Silicon Coach Video Camera Gait Analysis, TOG orthotics and TOG GaitScan Pedal Forceplate Analysis. The desire to innovate has now led The Dow Clinic to become the only treatment centre of any type in the North East of England to be able to Offer PinPointe FootLaser treatment for fungally infected nails. This is groundbreaking treatment using the power of laser without harming healthy tissue, and without provoking systemic side effects. This acquisition has propelled the practice to the position of being one of the most advanced of its type in the country.
